The Power of Surrendering!
To many, the act of surrendering comes across as a task that is weak or unfavorable. Many people don't like the word because it has such a negative connotation in society. Surrender is commonly defined as submitting to authority or the act of not resisting. Although it has a negative perception, I have found the act of surrendering to be powerful and beneficial.
As a full-time professional, student and business owner, I try to stay on top of everything! Whether you own your own business or work in corporate American (or both), there are always so many competing tasks and never an abundance of time to get them done. But if you are anything like me, dotting your I's and crossing your T's is really important to you! What happens when it is all too much? How do you internally process issues that you can't fix! What happens when you have a customer or employee who is upset, but the solution is out of your hands?
These types of situations can be very difficult to accept! Especially, when you care about your professional reputation and really want to provide a great experience. What I have learned is that the most powerful thing I can do, in these situations, is not resist what is; hence surrender.
Sometimes, not matter how much we plan, things just don't turn out the way we want. It's a part of living! The power of surrendering fuels the ability to find another, more feasible alternative. I feel the most empowered when I am not running in circles, being disappointed about how my plan didn't work out. Instead, I surrender to the fact that it didn't work and I focus all of my energy on a plan that will work.
We all have one source of energy! Where you direct that energy will result in success or failure. So, the next time you run into an impossible situation, ask yourself what is the best manner to direct your energy. Surrendering to what is creates a powerful manner of ensuring your energy is directed towards creating a successful outcome. It is when I surrender that I feel the most powerful and I achieve the most success.
